Student Technology Classroom Manager
The Graduate Supervisor works directly with the e-Teaching Resource Consultant by providing technical support for the IML, which consists of 6 computer classrooms in various buildings on campus and a Video Conferencing seminar room. The workstations in the IML classrooms total roughly over one hundred Macintosh machines and half as many PCs, and these are managed and maintained using various remote administration software and imaging.
The Graduate Supervisor also manages the student consultants in the IML. There are always two student consultants working at a time to support the IML, and the Graduate Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that they follow office procedures, complete any work assigned, and offer good service to faculty. He or she additionally handles their scheduling and makes sure the IML is always covered.
Essential functions include: providing local computing and communications support to all users in classrooms; implementing and maintaining University software and networking standards; monitoring the status of all problems reported; working with student consultants to continuously ensure the highest level of work and costumer service; managing and maintaining the workstations and their respective software and licensing servers; and providing feedback to the Instructional Technology Resource Consultant.
Requirements: the applicant should have a reasonably advanced knowledge of Windows and Mac OS X, basic experience with UNIX-based systems, and a willingness to acquire new technical skills. A positive attitude, dependability, and the ability to work well with faculty are very important. In this role you will have the opportunity to learn and support several technologies, supervise student consultants, and interact with faculty and staff.
Rate of Pay is: $15.00/hr
Starting in end of May- 33 hours/week in summer
20 hours per week/Academic year
