Dima Lisin To Join CS Department
Dima Lisin from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst has accepted an offer of a postdoctoral position working under Dr. Stella X. Yu. He will join the department on January 16, 2006.
Dimitri Lisin received the B.S. degree and the M.S. degree in Computer Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1997 and 1998 respectively. He did his master's thesis at the Biomedical
Imaging Group, at UMASS Medical School. Afterwards he joined that group as a research engineer. In the fall of 1999 Dima was admitted into the Ph.D. program at UMASS Amherst, where he became a member of the Computer Vision Research Laboratory. In 2001 he was awarded a graduate fellowship by Eastman Kodak Corporation Research Labs.
The research he has been involved in includes deformable models, deconvolution of 3D microscopy images, medical imaging, and object recognition. His current research interest is applying statistical methods to object categorization.
